NCPS Celebrates Diane Renck for State Recognition in Math

 

Nash County, North Carolina — The North Carolina Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCCTM) and the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) recently recognized Diane Renck, Nash-Rocky Mount Early College High School, with the 2023 NCDPI & NCCTM Outstanding Secondary Mathematics Teacher Award. This recognition is a tribute to educators who have effectively inspired students to excel in mathematics. 

The award honors the dedication of secondary school teachers who demonstrate excellence in mathematics instruction, igniting students' readiness for the subject in their everyday classroom experiences. 

 Renck teaches Math 2, Math 3, and occasionally Pre-Calculus at Nash-Rocky Mount Early College High School. Renck is passionate about engaging her students and encouraging them to be excited about math. She said, "What excites me most - I believe all people are 'math people,' and I strive to build confidence in my students. I love to see them be willing to engage in productive struggle and realize they can succeed in math." Renck's selection as the Math Teacher of the Year for NCPS highlights the district's focus on attracting and retaining quality educators to prepare our students for the future.
