Good evening, Eagle Families! This is Principal McGeachy! I hope everyone had a restful, enjoyable Spring Break! Here are your updates as we welcome our scholars back tomorrow: With only 25 instructional days left before EOC testing and end-of-semester exams, our scholars will continue with benchmark assessments for all EOC courses this week. As a reminder, the NCPS policy is that scholars who receive a passing grade in an EOC course but don’t achieve proficiency on the EOC test, must participate in remediation on May 20th and retake the EOC. This has been shared with scholars throughout the semester, and I invite you to contact your scholar’s EOC teacher if you have questions. On Wednesday, April 10th, there will be a Parent Information session for graduating scholars participating in Grad Bash ‘24, the end-of-year trip to Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida. The meeting will be held at the Science & Technology Building in the auditorium from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Important information pertaining to the trip will be shared at this final meeting before we depart on April 18th. Eagles, AMEXCAN at ECU (student club at ECU) and AMEXCAN are collaborating to host a Latino Day at ECU for Spanish speaking families on Saturday, April 6, 2024 from 12-3pm to learn about the admission process, financial aid opportunities, and the array of programs available. All presentations and a campus tour will be offered in Spanish. This is a great opportunity! See the flyer below to learn more information about Latino Day at ECU!

This is Principal McGeachy with this week’s announcements as we close in on Spring Break, which begins on Friday, March 29th: Our Global Scholars will participate in a Global Fair in collaboration with NCC on Monday, March 25th. The Global Fair will feature international foods, dancing, and other cultural activities. If your schedule permits, you are welcome to attend this outdoor event behind the Business and Industry Building on campus. On Tuesday, March 26th, our scholars involved with the Peer Group Connection (PGC) mentoring program will hold an evening of activities and information sharing for families from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. in the ECHS building. We encourage you to come out and support them. Now that some warmer temperatures have started to surface, I would like to provide a gentle reminder about adhering to the Nash County Public Schools dress code policy. Scholars who are in violation will be given the opportunity to have a change of clothes brought to school or potentially face a disciplinary consequence. There are 29 instructional days remaining before our scholars begin EOC and end-of-year assessments. This week, scholars enrolled in biology will take their 3rd benchmark assessment, and other content courses will continue their preparations for end-of-year assessments as well. These preparations included tutoring and other intervention strategies. Please ensure that your scholar's attendance for all courses remains a priority. Lastly, Spring Break for ECHS and NCPS begins on Friday, March 29th, and lasts through Friday, April 5th. We hope everyone has a safe, relaxing break, and we will welcome scholars back on April 8th. Celebrate cultures and traditions around the world in the Brown Auditorium this Monday, March 25. Our scholars from our Spanish classes will be presenting Latin American dances every class period, and we will have a quinceañera parade as well. We will have Mexican and Chinese food for sale, as well as snacks. We hope you can come and support our Eagles participating in the Global Fair! See the attached flyer for more details.

This is Principal McGeachy with just a few updates for the upcoming week and beyond: First, this is a quick reminder for families with legal residence in Edgecombe County. As you recall, rising 10th -13th-grade scholars at the Early College who reside in Edgecombe County must complete the legacy opt-in request by March 22nd to remain enrolled in our school. Again, this only applies to those scholars whose residence is in Edgecombe County. If you have questions or need clarification, please contact the school and speak with our data manager, Mrs. Godwin. Our Global Scholars will participate in a Global Fair with NCC on March 25th. The Fair will feature international foods, dancing, and other cultural activities. Mark your calendars for March 26th.
